Are you looking for some inspiration?

This lesson is all about the assumptions we may have about meditation, and how we can actually use those myths to deepen our practice. We will also look at what the curse outline for this course is and how this course is tailor-made to benefit you!

Myths about Meditation:

Meditation has many myths, roadblocks, or whatever you want to call them! After our extensive research, we found that people don’t even try to practice meditation based on some false assumptions! We have compiled the two main reasons why people don’t meditate. And yes, these are nothing but myths. All other excuses fall under these two major myths. Let us look at each.one of them.

Do you have any of them?

Myth #1 - Meditation is to have no thoughts! And no distractions!

We have been blessed to have one of the most important organs in our body - The Brain! And the job of the brain is to think! Is to have thoughts. Like our hearts pumping blood, and our lungs breathing in air, our brain is wired to think thoughts. And you can’t stop thinking thoughts!

People who come to this practice thinking that they need to "clear their mind" quickly become frustrated, because, as you've probably noticed by now, when we start to get quiet, the mind engages in lots of chatter. LOTS.

Truth #1 - A Reality check!

Meditation is about KNOWING WHAT WE ARE THINKING - WHEN WE ARE THINKING IT. It's like we're observing on the mind. We become aware of our thinking, of the patterns and habits in our own heads. The very purpose of meditation is to observe our thoughts, not try to stop them! Or even control them. Or to judge them.

Meditation helps us OBSERVE our thoughts!

For us to stop being controlled by our thoughts, we have to notice them. We have to see where the mind likes to go, and what happens when it goes there. I like to use the analogy that while we may have a "monkey mind," jumping from branch to branch and thought to thought, practicing mindfulness allows us to see the roots of that tree. We might realize that we keep coming back to the same thoughts each time we practice. We might discover that the same emotions continue to arise.

So don't worry if your meditation sessions are full of thoughts - you're OBSERVING the thoughts, and that's the whole point!

Myth #2 - I don’t have the time OR I can’t fit Meditation into my routine!

And we know that we should do something about this! We should practice Meditation! We should meditate! We should take time for silence and stillness and rest and relax------

But WAIT!!! I don’t have the time!

I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME TO MEDITATE!!!

Truth #2 - A SERIOUS Reality Check!

Here’s the thing… YOU HAVE THE TIME!

And then if we DO actually sit down to meditate, we get really bored.... and then because the mind is so bored it starts doing all sorts of thinking and reminds us of all those million things to do... We think about our past or keep worrying bout our future...Then we figure we're just really bad at meditation because we should get up and start doing all the things ... because really, we just don't have the time to meditate after all....

We understand that Meditation will help us gain clarity and bring us to our center...bring us to our Peace. Bring us to a place where we can actually be and enjoy life… Where we can free ourselves from all the stress, the past or the future! But, we can’t meditate because we need to do things...Because our thoughts start to tell us that there are other ‘important’ things to do than to sit and just be...

The problem is you don’t have a PLAN!

The problem is you don’t have the willingness to dedicate a certain amount of time in this ‘busy’ world to give it to YOURSELF!

You don’t have the TIME to give yourself PEACE!

You don’t have the TIME to place yourself FIRST!!

You don’t have the TIME to become your No. 1 PRIORITY!!!

You can only serve the world to its utmost, highest potential when you give yourself the love, the joy, the peace, and the happiness FIRST!

It makes sense, doesn’t it? When you are happy, your life becomes happy! When you are peaceful, your life becomes peaceful! When you are loving, your relationships become automatically loving and nurturing!

Remember YOUR WHY? Why do you want to Meditate? Why you are here?

That is why it is so POWERFUL. We will constantly re-iterate YOUR WHY?

As we proceed through the course, we will work on bringing dedicated meditation practice into our lives. We strongly encourage you to set aside eleven minutes each day for sitting in silence and paying attention — noticing your thoughts, your feelings, your reactions, your cravings, your aversions…. just noticing the activity of the mind.

You need a plan because...

If we don't begin with a plan, and a deep understanding of how this new practice will be woven into the fabric of our lives, meditation can easily become something we only do "when we feel like it."

The time I carved out for mindfulness made me much more productive and happier - as I did all the rest of the things.

So set a time and a reminder on your workbook on when you plan to Meditate in the next 11 days? When is the time whe you are finally going to give to yourself?

When is the time when YOU, COME FIRST?
