Day 1: Connecting your breath: Synchronizing and grounding with your breath

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

When we’re mindful, we reduce stress, enhance performance, gain insight and aware ness through observing our own mind, and increase our attention to others’ well-being.

Mindfulness meditation gives us a time in our lives when we can suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness—to ourselves and others.

Lesson Details:

Type: Mindfulness

Name: Connecting with your breath

Objective: Synchronizing and grounding with your breath

Description: Being in a state of meditation means being present with what is. Breathing, following the breath, helps focus the mind and bring you back to the present moment, recognizing the important connection between meditation and breathing. Bringing awareness to our breathing, we remind ourselves that we are here now. Awareness of the breath breathing in and out nurtures mindfulness; breathing in, you know you are breathing, breathing out, you know you are breathing.

Duration: 12 Minutes

Beats: Alpha Waves (7 to 14 Hz)

Beats Description: Alpha waves are the most common brain waves that occur at the beginning of meditation as you try to go into a deeper state of mind. The state is generated when our thoughts are really not concentrated and our minds wander freely, or we are in a relaxed state such as meditating or daydreaming. Alpha is considered to be the bridge between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

After this session, you will be able to:

  1. Connect deeply with your breath
  2. Practice Mindfulness with your breathing
  3. Realize the importance of your breath

Note: This Meditation is best practiced with Head Phones!
